Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Yvenson Bernard, also known by Dejwe (pronounced Day-j-way), moved to the United States at the age of 6. Growing up in Tampa, FL he learned about American culture and was particularly infatuated with the music. The hypnotic sounds of Hip-hop and R&B were vastly different from Haitian Kompa and Zouk that he grew up with in his homeland. Even though his parents consistently played Haitian inspired music, Dejwe grew to be interested in his new home’s ways. As a teenager, this led him to become interested in writing and expressing himself through lyrics and spoken word. He was particularly fond of artists such as Trick Daddy, Pastor Troy, Tupac and Nas just to name a few.
Dejwe’s taste in music progressed to other genres such as Alternative, Folk and even Country. He began experimenting with his own techniques and with his wide range of taste in music, Dejwe has grown into the songwriter, producer and artist that he is today. He continues to grow and never settles until a piece has its own personality. His ability to take words and mold them, like silly putty, into catchy melodic hits is what makes him unique. His songwriting abilities allow his listeners to feel the emotions of the song, whether it’s a banger or telling a story about someone who had their heart broken. Dejwe gives his listeners their release.
In 2018, Dejwe founded Noir Addiction Musik Group, LLC, also referred to as NAM Group, and based it out of Tampa, FL. Along with being CEO of his own music production company; he also is his own publisher under the name of Noir Addiction Musik Group.
