Y-Kay – Carpe Diem

Y-Kay is an international hip-hop artist. He was born in Qatar, as an Egyptian national, then lived in California, traveled to Europe, and Asia. Currently, he lives in Dubai. His latest music video, for the song “Carpe Diem” was written, directed, and performed entirely by Y-Kay. It is a sneak peak into what his next song “Art, Gods, & The Cosmos” will be about:

Since I am always doing music, and probably always intoxicated, it feels like I am living in a lucid dream. But I had to touch on the topic of the backwardness of society, the music industry, and how when we talk about chasing your dreams, to them it will always be just a dream. And as an Egyptian, we been through that with our day to day lives. so I started making my own reality the dream that people apparently think is forbidden, because it can’t be attained. The art we make, is global, the gods people believe in, don’t last forever, and the cosmos, is where we all came from, and it’s all we will ever know, and we will never know enough before we fade away. The visuals were dreamy, almost vacant of the normal day look of what we see on the street or in our daily lives, ghostly but not in a creepy way, and very similar to a dream. But I shot it all in a sunny day, to give hope, and the colors to give the intoxication trippy feel. Carpe Diem, live it to the fullest now, because tomorrow is never promised. There is thin line between what’s real now, and a dream later, or vice versa. -Y-Kay on his song “Carpe Diem” and future works
